One of the most important questions you MUST ask yourself is "WHY do you want to lose weight?"
It may seem a silly question, but believe me it determines your outcome. For example,
- if you are losing weight to get into a wedding dress, what do you think will happen after the wedding? Original weight plus more.
- if you want to diet because someone else said you should, what will happen in the middle of the night when he/she is not around? Cheating! More pounds added.
- if you want to lose weight because you honestly assessed your situation and decided it would be healthier to be lighter s-l-o-w-l-y, and you surround yourself with books, information, and a social group that honestly wants you to succeed, the battle is half won.
If you do not fit into some variation of the last category, let go of the idea you should look like you did when you were a teenager. That is an impossible goal and therefore a stupid one.
You only set yourself up for diet, fail, gain, diet, fail, gain, diet, fail, gain, and so on. The more stubborn you are, the fatter you will eventually become.
Find supportive people first, then information, then set realistic goals. NEVER tell the negative people around you that you are on a diet. They will make it their mission in life to cause you to fail, so that you are as miserable as them.
Now you know the basic steps to dieting success. Either get started or accept where you are.
